Long days, full of hope, but also of insecurity...

On Monday I spent most of the day in the hospital – from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. I did PET-CT, blood tests, lung X-rays... A hard day, but necessary. At the same time, I went to the ophthalmologist. Fortunately, the problem is not serious, but I do have to wear glasses. Let this be my greatest concern... If only that were it!

On Tuesday I waited with a heavy heart for an answer – the medical council was going to meet. I was hopeful, but I waited again for hours only to find out that... Nothing can be decided without the opinion of the orthopedic traumatologist. Another day of uncertainty.

Today, I finally got to the orthopedist. After the consultation and x-rays, what I suspected was confirmed: the pain in the leg is caused by the bone that did not grip correctly and risks cracking. The doctor recommends a new surgery – a plate must be fitted to protect the bone and prevent a serious complication.

But here comes a painful dilemma: if I start cancer treatment, I will no longer be able to have this operation. And we still don't know when would be the best time to intervene – before or after the complete recovery from lung surgery?

Today the medical council meets again. We hope that at least now we will receive a clear direction. In the meantime, I was recommended to ask for other opinions: from Dr. Leyla Ozer – an oncologist with extensive experience – and from the traumatologist orthopedist who already consulted me in April at Acibadem Atakent, the one who knows my medical history.

It's tiring. That's a lot. It's hard not to know what awaits you. But I still hope. I'm still fighting. I still trust that somewhere in all this chaos, a clear path to healing will open up.

We apologize for writing to you on a Saturday, but pain does not choose days. Today I went back to the hospital, to the doctor who operated on Alina... We had an X-ray of the lung and we can hardly hold back tears.
The results of the analyzes have arrived. Unfortunately, the news is cruel: aggressive sarcoma.
They can't let us go home. Alina has a dry cough, her condition is fragile, and the current treatment no longer helps. His medicines were changed and, with the last money, we managed to buy them.

On Monday we are scheduled to see the oncologist. There we will find out what's next... what hopes we still have, what treatments, what costs. The truth is that we don't know what awaits us, but we know that it will be hard. And we are afraid to ask for help again.

We have been accommodated for 6 days, and today is the last. Tomorrow we have to pay. We collected every penny so that we would at least have some work to go...
We eat the cheapest – macaroni, instant soups... everything to afford a return ticket.

I thought the surgery would be the end of the nightmare. But the painful truth is that Alina's struggle is just beginning. And we need you. Again. With our heads bowed, but with the hope that someone, somewhere, will feel our pain and will extend a hand to us.

Today I should have gone home... But life still puts obstacles in my way.

Yesterday I was ready for discharge, with a heavy heart, but also with a hint of hope that I will finally be able to return to peace. I just didn't feel good at all. My pulse had jumped to 120-125, I was weak, pale, and the doctors had to give me a blood transfusion. They had the hemorrhage... And I don't know how I found the strength to stay on my feet.

Today I'm sitting and waiting for the accountant to come. Everything that has been spent extra is calculated. It didn't even cross my mind that we would have to pay for the second operation... No one expected such a complication. Nor that this extra night, spent in the hospital, will mean another expense.

I'm afraid to find out the final amount. Not because I don't trust. But because, in my soul, I felt liberated... And now, it's like I'm trapped in a circle of worries again.

I also have a difficult road to travel – I have to buy the medicines for the next few days, and on Friday I will return to the check-up. They will check if the lung is fine, if everything has healed properly... and, especially, if I will be able to fly home.

It's hard. It's painful. But it's also a blessing that we've come this far. That the surgery was done. That I got the chance at life.

And I can only thank you, those who have been with me. For every euro, every prayer, every good thought.
