Marcus' story
From last autumn to the present day, a young family no longer has peace. Mihai and Maia Cebotari (37 and 34 years old respectively) went through a vortex of feelings, from shock to fear, from helplessness to hope, then to joy and now, again, to fear.
Their middle child, Marcus, was diagnosed in September with medulloblastoma. He felt unwell, he had headaches more and more often, he began to feel nausea and vomit, and after a medical check-up, the parents received the shock-news: their son has brain cancer.
We were admitted to the hospital, and on October 1, Marcus underwent head surgery. The tumor was removed, but the doctors at the oncology center where we were sent did not give it any chance of survival. Then we addressed several clinics abroad and received a favorable response from Turkey, says the father of the 6-year-old child, Mihai Cebotari.
A new shock came just after Marcus' case was accepted. The cost of the treatment that can save him exceeded 62,000 euros.
We live in the countryside, we do not have a stable job and we do not have a lot of money, we live with what we produce in the garden, we barely support our family. That's when we opened a bank account and people helped us raise the necessary amount. Treatment included radiation therapy and chemotherapy, and metastases disappeared. Unfortunately, some cancer cells remained and there is a risk of relapse. Now, Marcus has to do another round of chemotherapy, but the amount is 55,800 euros, which we have no way to collect, said, in turn, the mother of the little boy, Maia.
All the while, Marcus' brothers - Maxim, 15, and Melisa, 4 - call him daily and ask him when he comes home, because they miss him very much. Parents don't know what else to tell them, trying hard to hide their fears and tears.
We kindly ask you to help us save our boy! We have fought for so long and we do not want to lose it. Children are our lives, the two young people told us, begging them to be with them to save Marcus' life.
