Despite numerous challenges and fatigue from previous treatments, his health remains stable, a sign that hope should not be abandoned. However, the road to recovery is long and strewn with uncertainties. Doctors are still assessing the need for a second transplant, a decision that cannot be rushed.

In these moments, when the future seems a distant horizon, your ceaseless support is more valuable than anything. Every kind thought, every prayer and every gesture of help counts enormously to give him and his family the strength to continue this struggle.

Dear ones,

We are happy to inform you that, for now, Alexandru did not need hospitalization. Although he has gone through numerous medical checks, we are waiting with hope for the results. These will help us better understand its situation and determine what further action is needed.

We know many of you are worried and want to know how it feels. Your unceasing faith and the hope with which you sustain us was a pillar of strength for Alexander and for all of us. We are deeply grateful for your thoughts and prayers.

At 17, Alexander is fighting a desperate battle with destiny.

In life, adolescence comes only once and should be full of dreams and great plans, but for Alexandru Dogaru this came with terrible news. He was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia (M4), being hospitalized at Fundeni Clinical Hospital in 2021. Since then, the hospital has become his home.

There is no sign that predicts the disease, there are no changes that announce this diagnosis in advance. After many chemotherapy sessions and blood transfusions that briefly improved the disease, he returns to Fundeni Clinical Hospital with bone marrow relapse, and in January 2023 he is given a stem cell transplant.

Alexandru thought he had successfully overcome this disease, but in a few months, the disease relapsed, suffering from facial paresis on the right side and ear infection, being operated on his right ear at Marie Curie Hospital Bucharest. His condition worsens and he is receiving chemotherapy treatment.

Alexander's rescue, in his condition, is at the Bambino Gesù Hospital in Rome, Italy, an oncology hospital where there are innovative treatments that increase the chances of cure in acute myeloblastic leukemia. Alexandru needs long-term help to overcome this disease, as others have succeeded, being treated at Bambino Gesù Children's Hospital. Alexandru's mother, named Cristina, is a housewife, and his father, Laurentiu, a driver for a road construction and repair company.

It is hard to explain in words what a child feels who has gone through so much suffering and physical and emotional changes, following the treatments administered: bone marrow punctures, dozens of chemotherapy sessions with everything they involve, hair loss, malaise, etc.

Cristina Dogaru, the grief-filled mother, says: "Every day with Alexandru is a precious gift, but also a reminder of our continuous struggle, of pain and suffering that I would not wish on even my worst enemy. I used to see kids his age playing, laughing, exploring the world with eyes sparkling with curiosity, and I can't help but wonder, why does my child have to go through this? Yet every day I see Alexander struggling, with a courage few adults have. He is my source of inspiration, my strength. Now more than ever, we need your support.
