With a heavy heart and words that barely manage to clothe the pain, we pay tribute to the memory of Radu Doruleț, a banner of journalism, who ended his journey among us on the sad night of September 25 to 26. After three years of heroic struggle with a merciless disease, Radu left us, leaving behind him a huge void in the media world and in our hearts.

Radu, a bright spirit and a warm presence in the turmoil of the press, left us far too early, at the age of only 53. He was a warrior, a stoic fighter in the face of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, a disease that tested him in ways only he can truly know. Diagnosed in 2020 after a series of arduous investigations, he continued to inspire courage and determination.

Through his voice, Radu animated the ether at Uniplus Radio, modeled words in the pages of the Morning Journal, gave life to stories at "Midnight Tavern". His talent also shone in local government, where he made significant contributions and touched lives, while generously sharing his vast experience.

Many of us journalists today were guided by his light in our early days, and for that we will be eternally grateful. Radu was a devoted husband, a loving father, a reliable colleague and a cherished mentor. In these moments of deep sadness, our thoughts and prayers go out to his family, who must go on without his physical presence, but always accompanied by the memory of a man of rare nobility of soul.

Radu's story

The well-known journalist Radu Doureț, who worked for more than 15 years in the main media institutions in Botoşani, was diagnosed with a rare disease and now needs financial support in order to receive treatment. The 50-year-old botanist, who is currently an adviser in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, suffers from amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), a progressive neurodegenerative disease involving damage to both the central and peripheral motor neurons. The diagnosis was made following investigations that lasted almost six months and were made by specialists from several clinics in Bucharest. In order to delay the progression of the disease, Radu Doureț needs financial support for the purchase of a drug and specialized treatment. The drug, which is an intravenous one, is called Edalavone and is sold under the brand name Radiciva and Radicut. Treatment over a six-month period costs at least 15,000 euros, but the drug is procured from the Japanese manufacturer. Radu Doureț does not have this money and can be helped through the Association "Save a Heart", whose president is Vlad Pietă.
