The story of Ionuț Georgescu
There is no obstacle in life that a mother does not want to knock down for her son. Regardless of weight, a woman seems to gain supernatural powers when it comes to saving her child from death. She would do anything and pay anything just to keep her baby safe.
So is Daniela Georgescu, a 35-year-old from Arges County, who fights hard for her one-year-old son. Ionuț was born with Down syndrome, but also with multiple heart malformations that were life-threatening.
For me the news came as a shock, because throughout my pregnancy I was monitored by the doctor and he always assured us that the baby was perfectly healthy. Since then, we have been running desperately from hospital to hospital to have heart surgery, says Daniela.
Initially, they tried in the country, but both in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca and Targu Mures, parents were told that the surgeries Ionut needs exceed the situation in hospitals, and the baby's chances of survival are low.
They then chose to take the case abroad, and the only medical unit that responded favorably was Medical Park in Istanbul. There, the baby underwent heart surgery twice.
Now he is stable, but he needs a longer recovery period because he has Down syndrome, and the body is slowed down, the immune system is much lower and recovery is more difficult, explains the mother.
As in any private clinic, recovery means money, a lot of money. For 30 days, while Ionuț still has to stay under medical supervision, the hospital issued an invoice of € 20,000, an amount that the Georgescu family can no longer afford.
The husband is no longer working because of the current situation, we have no income except the children's allowance, we are desperate because all our financial resources have been exhausted. We pray to God that we can raise the amount, so that Ionuț can continue to fight, to become winners at home and to enjoy a normal childhood, says Daniela.
Everything she could do for her son, she did. The young mother now urgently needs help to ensure her baby recovers to overcome the crisis she has been in since birth.
