The story of the champion
Diana is a child who loves life and lives beautifully. She grew up on the tennis court and won numerous competitions. She loves tennis, but the pandemic and the National Assessment exam have made her discontinue training for a period of time. During her sports training for admission to the Military High School, Diana noticed that she had a foot problem, so her parents took her to the doctor believing that there was nothing serious about it.
Following the investigations of MRI, TOMOGRAPH, MRI and scintigraphy, made at several clinics, Diana received a terrible diagnosis: alveolar rhabdomyosarcoma, an aggressive malignant tumor, which occurs in children and adolescents.
As you can imagine, parents are devastated. And they're trying hard to find the way to healing. I confess to you that I, too, am shocked. But not only by the diagnosis, but also by Diana's attitude. How can a child keep the same smile when such a heavy illness pulls her leg? This child has a superhuman conviction that she will live the day when she returns to training.
Currently, Diana, together with her mother, are admitted to the Marie Curie Hospital, the oncology department, where she has already gone through the first chemotherapy course after which she felt that her powers are leaving her, but she has endured all the torment with stoicism and gratitude. She's so brave! So does her mother who cares for her and never leaves her alone!
In the moments when the malaise allows her, Diana writes in a notebook, from which the mother, lamented reads: "Last night I dreamed of butterflies, swarms of butterflies, colored and cheerful; they would rise in the rotocoals, then sit down again. One, down, with a sticky wing, resignedly follows the game of the others.
Is it me? The butterfly that no longer flies? It can't be me, I can't stop flying like this, all of a sudden, with a ruthless diagnosis! I'm only 15 years old, I have to fly, don't take my wings and hopes!
I have dreams, I have plans, I have tennis matches, I want to fall in love... I can't ask for too much, I just want what I had before, what a teenage girl my age wants, to fly...
I want my mother to laugh again, not smile at me through tears, I want my father to stop feeling powerless and for my brother to have his zest for life fulted.
I know that there are miracles and that there are good people who perform them. Please help me regain my health which has such a high price...year>
I know that life is priceless, it is a wonderful gift that is now in the hands of you, of all good people!
And I know something else... that Santa Claus exists!''
I think the only suffering heavier than cancer is being a mother and watching over your child's bedside. The suffering that you see your child in distress. Without being able to take that suffering upon yourself altogether...
Diana, however, continues to smile. And it's often with training in mind. Diana taught me that no one in this world endures illness more beautifully than a serene child. That's why I want to help this serene child. That's why I'm writing to you.
Because in our country, unfortunately, the chances of healing are small, doctors recommend that the operation be done abroad. Diana's parents sent files to several clinics in Europe, and the favorable response came from France, from the Gustave Roussy hospital, where this type of cancer can be treated. But the costs exceed any power of imagination, reaching € 260,222.
But Diana's parents do not allow themselves to be discouraged and are ready to sacrifice everything they have for their child's health. Already they have put all the goods up for sale, including the house in which they live and the small farm they have cared for for years, working the land and raising animals. But the amount is far beyond the financial possibilities available to them.
Relatives and close friends try their best to collect some of the necessary money as well. That is why, in turn, being close to my family, I have decided to make this appeal to you in the hope that you can support us in this endeavour. Any amount how small is welcome!
I want Diana to enjoy high school and Christmas. To make their parents proud still. And to play tennis again, with one thought in mind: how beautiful life is!
If you would like to support us in this endeavor, below are the bank accounts where donations can be made. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for having the patience to read to the end this pain put into words but full of hope!
