Today, I want to share with you such a story, the story of little Patrick Jerlăianu, a little boy of only 4 years, who teaches us what real struggle and the power of hope mean.
Patrick carries with him not only the innocent smile of childhood, but also a story that defies the limits of modern medicine. Diagnosed with a rare malformation in the CACNA1A gene, Patrick suffers from severe hypotonia, a condition that greatly limits his movements and ability to interact with the world around him. The uniqueness of his case in Romania adds an even greater layer of complexity to his treatment and recovery.
In the midst of this difficult battle, Save a Heart became the beacon of light to which Patrick's family turned with hope. Demonstrating what compassion and human solidarity mean, the association made it possible to pay the impressive sum of 11,600 euros, necessary to give Patrick a new chance at life. This generosity paved the way for a revolutionary intervention - stem cell transplantation, now in its second session, thus giving him the opportunity to dream of a normal life.

We are happy that after a long time we resumed Cuevas Medek exercise sessions. Patrick will have 3 weeks with our wonderful therapist Adrian Stupineanu, fresh from Chile, where he has just graduated from Level IV.
The first 2 days went extraordinarily well, today Patrick even managed to take the first steps during the exercises. 🙏🏼🙏🏼 Thank you Adrian Stupinean for his devotion to our children, for all his efforts to help our children! ❤️
Many of us have the privilege of putting on shoes without thinking twice, but Patrick needs special orthotics and shoes to be able to do so. Thanks to your generosity, the "Save a heart" Association managed to pay 1040 EUR to help Patrick's needs. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Patrick attended the 4th day of therapies in Turkey at Dolphin Therapy Land. The therapy plan being as follows: -delphinotherapy -Galileo -Physiotherapy -occupational therapy -occupational therapy -Speech therapy. We can already see improvements in our little one, being much more attentive and managing to follow more easily everything around him. He also managed to utter some new words. 🙏🏼❤️

Patrick's story
With each therapy session, our soul would break into pieces when we could see how much he was suffering. At 6 months, when a normal baby begins to diversify and manages to sit in the bottom, our Patrick could not even hold his tick. It can not walk even now, more it crawls on the ground.
Andreea Jerlăianu hardly finds her words when she talks about her son, diagnosed with a malformation in the CACNA1A gene, which prevents the boy from developing normally, according to his age.
Patrick is the only case in Romania with this condition, and in order to be able to have a life as close as possible to that of an ordinary child depends on numerous therapies, without which he could not exceed the stage of newborn.
Because of the very rare genetic syndrome, the 4-year-old child can barely keep his head up, barely speaks and can not walk on his own, and playing with the little ones outside can not even be talked about.
When I received the diagnosis I refused to believe that my child must face such serious conditions at such an early age. I can not imagine not being able to run, play, laugh cheerfully with other children, says his mother.
Fortunately, all is not lost. The doctors informed the parents that the little boy has great chances to go alone, but only by following numerous sessions of specialized therapies. Physical therapy, speech therapy, osteopathy and hippotherapy cost at least 10,000 lei per month, or € 2,000, well above what the Jerlăianu family can afford. Given Patrick's situation, the mother cannot work, and the only breadwinner of the family with 4 souls is Andrea's husband, Daniel.
Patrick didn't give up and showed us how strong he is and how determined he wants to win. Currently moving here în all fours or with the help of a wheelchair and can be held in the legs with support. He soon began to say words. With much help, Patrick will prove to us that miracles exist, something said even by doctors surprised by its evolution. Until then, we need financial support to be able to take it to all the necessary therapies.
The little one has a long and difficult road ahead of him, but our help can support his steps towards independence.
