Piroșcă Ilaria is only 14 years old, but her life is already marked by a painful struggle with a severe diagnosis – severe scoliosis. This condition causes her overwhelming pain and dramatically affects her every day. The rapid increase in the curvature of the spine makes her only chance to be an emergency surgery, at the Monza Hospital in Bucharest.
The cost of the operation is 25,480 euros, a much too high amount for his family. Ilara's father is a bus driver, and her mother works in a factory, with a cumulative monthly income of just over 1,000 euros. However, they did everything in their power to help their daughter – physical therapy, corset, daily therapies – but her condition continues to worsen.
"The pain I feel tears me apart every day. Sometimes, even breathing is not easy for me. At night, I wake up crying, powerless, and the corset I'm forced to wear makes me feel invisible. I'm afraid to go to school, I'm afraid of my classmates' questions and their looks.
I tried everything – physical therapy, exercises, wearing a corset for 23 hours a day. But my disease does not stop, but becomes more and more aggressive. The doctors told me that the only solution is surgery. I'm afraid, but more than anything I want to stop feeling the pain, to be able to sleep at night without medication, to walk on the street without being ashamed of the way I look.
I ask you from the bottom of my heart to help me! I want to be a normal child again, to laugh, to live without this burden. My hope is you, the ones who can lend me a helping hand. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!"
