The story of Mateo Stefan

It was a happy day... Nothing foretold that something bad would come to the surface. On December 3, last year, Mateo Stefan was in kindergarten, rehearsing for the Christmas celebration. Suddenly, he was hurt, bruised on his lips and yellowed his face. The teacher informed her parents that the 6-year-old boy was feeling unwell, and after the hospital investigations, the poor people received the shock-news: Mateo Stefan has a brain tumor!

From that moment on, the child was admitted to the "Saint Mary" Hospital in Iasi, where he should have been operated on, but after three days the doctors realized that it was an impossible mission. The intervention was a risky one and they did not even have the necessary equipment. They sent the boy home without any specific treatment.

The parents did not resign themselves to the situation and sought help abroad. Specialists at Emsey Hospital in Turkey gave them hope that Mateo Stefan can be operated on successfully. The cost of the intervention and subsequent treatment amounts to 20,000 euros - another news that hit the family. The Ciocoiu spouses have three children, and their monthly income is only 1,500 lei. The father works by day in the village, the mother takes care of everyone. Where to raise so much money?

It is easy to understand that in such a situation, money dictates what will happen to Mateo Stefan, whether he will live or whether he will perish due to malignant tumor. It's painful, but that's the reality: sometimes your life has a clear price. In the case of Mateo Stefan, it's about 20,000 euros. It's just as painful to see two parents struggling to save their son, but they don't have the strength.

But all is not lost. The solidarity of the friends of the "Save a Heart" Association has shown, many times, that it can save lives, that it can restore the health of innocent souls, that it can create miracles where there is only pain and despair.
