Ana Maria's story

I am 15 years old and I really like to learn, but unfortunately I divide my time between school and hospital. It all started on July 20, 2013 when I had seizures without fever, my parents called the ambulance that took me to Slatina County Hospital. When we arrived, we did a half of convulsions again. After they stabilized me, the doctors made me a CT scan at which they saw that I had meningitis, they made several punctations in my spine and then sent me to Craiova with the diagnosis of brain abscesses.

I stayed at the hospital in Craiova in intensive care for three days in an unconscious state where they administered me antibiotics. After countless insistences of my parents, the doctors from Craiova transferred me to the M.S. Curie children's hospital in Bucharest.  There I was also given a CT scan at which it was found that I did not have brain abscesses but strokes on small vessels. My tension was 26. At that CT scan it was also seen that a kidney was not working. The doctors made me a treatment schedule to stabilize me, this scheme consisting of countless infusions and pills.

After three weeks of sitting in the hospital, I also did an MRI where it was clearly seen what I had, which was the strokes I had done and the kidney was non-functional.  On August 12, it was decided to remove the kidney. After this surgery my tensions were adjusted but I was still taking treatment with: Enap, Norvasc, A cardiologylok and prednisone plus the infusions they made, fortunately they were rarer.

In September I was discharged from the hospital continuing the treatment at home and going for a monthly check-up.  In November 2014, two nodules appeared under my arm. I went to the hospital again and there he admitted me to the oncology ward. After a few days it was decided to have a biopsy done and at that analysis it came out that I have ganglional TUBERCULOSIS.

After the diagnosis of ganglional TUBERCULOSIS I was hospitalized at the National Institute of Pneumophysiology "Marius Nasta" Bucharest where I stayed hospitalized for three weeks to undergo specialized treatment, after which I was discharged following the treatment at home for another year and going monthly to the control.  In November 2015, going to the routine check-up at the M. S. Curie children's hospital based on the analyzes, it was decided that I must be transferred to the National Institute for Mother and Child Health "Alessandrescu Rusescu".

Once there the doctors decided that I needed an MRI and then an aortography to make sure the diagnosis. I did that analysis and was diagnosed with Systemic Vasculitis (Arteritis Takayasu). Since then I have been continuing to go to this hospital.

Since April 2017 I have been undergoing treatment with: Etanercept, Methotrexate, Azithromycin, Aspenter and the other pills that I have not interrupted at all, only my doses have been reduced. Etanercept injections I do twice a week and it helps me that my blood vessels do not get fat and the disease does not evolve anymore.  Because this treatment costs a lot, 1250 RON per week, far beyond the powers of my parents, I appeal to you to help me. I know that these injections are given for free for other diseases, but for me no, I have made several complaints to the Ministry of Health in this regard, but in vain.  I will follow this treatment for many years to come, otherwise my life will be put in danger. Thank you!
