As this first stage of visits to doctors and tests for our children comes to an end, our souls are filled with gratitude and emotion. Tomorrow, we head to Romania, with the thought of returning on October 14th, enriched by the experience and progress we have seen. We are deeply grateful for all the support you have received and for your devotion to all the children.
Although doctors have warned us that signs of improvement can usually appear after a year of treatment, we are already seeing positive changes in David's condition after just three months. Cognitively, it's much better than it was when I left home. She doesn't cry so much anymore, she sleeps better, her dystonia has been significantly reduced, she watches with her eyes and tries to catch it with her hands, and she hasn't bitten at all. We also notice an increase in strength in Antonia. In the morning, after doing gymnastics, with a little help, he manages to do a few sit-ups.
We received the treatment for another three months and we will continue to administer it at home. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all your generosity and support. Together, step by step, we build a better future for our children. 🙏

With God's help, it has been a month since we were integrated into this medical study. The second visit to the hospital for tests and the meeting with the geneticist took place, which we were pleasantly surprised by, because she is one of our Romanians. A ray of hope and confidence thus appeared in our path. We hope from the bottom of our hearts to see improvements, no matter how small, because every progress matters to us. The road is long and hard, hard enough, and the pain of seeing our little children like this is great, there are no words to express this suffering. Those who have children understand what grief means for what we hold dearest in the world.
We would like to thank you very much for all the support you have given us during this difficult time. Our departure to Canada to seek treatment for Antonia and David, who unfortunately suffer from an extremely rare disease, was possible thanks to you. Every message of encouragement, every kind thought, and every help we received gave us the strength to keep going and hope. Thanks to the Liam Foundation and Kevin James Reason, without whom this study would not have been possible.
As Kevin says, "Small steps, but always forward"!

It's barely been two weeks since I arrived in Canada and started the new treatment of children. We pray to the good Lord not to delay the results, no matter how small... God help! We have passed the adjustment period; It was not easy at all, especially for children, with this difference of hours, but we are on the right track. We thank all those who are with us on this journey, in the fight against their illness, those who do not forget us and seek us to know about ourselves. We pray that we will continue to face all that lies ahead; we are in good hands, and this is nothing but God's work. We sincerely hope that our souls will rejoice one day 😇. That's the longest period we've been here under surveillance, then we continue to three months to come in for a checkup, then 6 months, until 2026 when we finish this study, which we pray will be helpful. The efforts are quite large, but I think everyone would do this for their child if they faced such a terrible 🥺🥺 disease. I've come across wonderful people here too; somehow we are lucky somehow, God opens so many doors for us, and we have to open them. Thanks everyone... 🤗😇😘

Dear friends and supporters,
We arrived safely in Montreal, a city full of hope and new beginnings for our little one, David Andrei Rebiga. Yesterday, in the heart of this metropolis, we took our first steps on an essential medical journey with a visit to Montreal Children's Hospital, a bastion of medical excellence part of the McGill University Health Centre.
David, with his courage undiminished by the age of only three, went through the neurological examination. Doctors took his blood and urine tests and performed an EEG, paving the way for a deeper understanding of his health. Today, we turn with hopeful hearts to genetic consultation and begin treatment that we pray will bring comfort and healing.
David battles a mitochondrial genetic mutation SUCLG1, a huge challenge for any soul, but especially for one so young. The cost of treatment amounts to 20,000 euros, an enormous sum for a family like ours, but every euro invested is a ray of hope for David's future.
We pray that God will guide us on the right path and give us the strength to face these trials. Every day brings with it new challenges, but also the possibility of a new beginning. We hope that generous hearts will unite in our support to give David the chance to a life full of joy and health.
With deep gratitude and unwavering hope,
Rebiga family

Dear friends and benefactors,
As time passes, every moment becomes more precious in our struggle for a better future for David and Antonia. Despite our relentless efforts, the funds raised so far are not enough to cover the vital treatment they need.
On April 14, we will embark on a journey to Canada, filled with hope and determination, to begin a new chapter in David's fight for health. The treatment will begin on April 16 with an essential EEG, followed by specific treatment that represents a chance at a normal life for my children.
In these trying times, my appeal to you is simple but profound: please share our message and contribute, however small the amount. Each gesture of generosity brings us closer to our goal and offers new hope to my children.
I invite you to be part of our healing story by donating to David by accessing the link to our campaign initiated by the "Save a heart" Association: https://salveazaoinima.ro/david-rebiga/.
With a heart full of gratitude and hope,
David and Antonia's mother

Yesterday, our hearts were flooded with hope and gratitude on a day that will forever remain in our memory. A sea of generous souls, over 330 people, chose to join us in the fight for David's future, donating through the online platform of Save a Heart Association. So far, we have managed to raise 3926 euros, each euro being a ray of hope for us. However, our road is still long; we need 20,000 euros to be able to go to Montreal Children's Hospital, where David has a chance at a normal life.
On April 14th, we will leave with both children for Canada, a big step on this hopeful road. And on April 16th, we'll start with EEG and then the actual treatment, crucial moments in the battle for David's health.
With tears of gratitude in my eyes, I thank you all for every gesture of support, for every message of encouragement. You are our heroes, the light in the darkness, the hope that guides us. Together, we can bring the miracle David so desperately needs. I embrace you with all my love, hoping that your kindness will continue to accompany us on this journey to healing.

A ray of hope for David: One family's fight against a rare disease"
In the tumultuous heart of life, there are stories that tear us out of everyday life and remind us of the strength of humanity and the power of hope. One of these stories is that of little David Rebiga and his family, a family that fights relentlessly against a rare and relentless disease. Francis and Christina, David's parents, share their story, an arduous journey to light and hope.
The statement of our mother, Elena Cristina, touches our hearts: "Looking at David, my heart fills with pain and hope at the same time. It's so small, but its struggle is huge. Every smile gives us the strength to move forward, every progress, no matter how small, is a victory against a disease that has stolen so much. We want more than anything to be able to give him a chance at a normal life, to grow, to explore the world on his own terms. Please help us give him that chance."
David, just 3 years old, faces a genetic mitochondrial disease SUCLG1, which severely limits his physical and cognitive abilities. Although the diagnosis is daunting, hope comes from a clinical trial at Montreal Children's Hospital, part of the McGill University Health Centre, where David was accepted to participate in an experimental treatment. This study offers a glimmer of hope, the possibility of relieving symptoms and, perhaps, a better life.
In this story of hope and courage, we cannot help but think of David's sister Antonia, who shares the same hard battle against the same rare disease. Like her brother, Antonia needs support and access to treatments that can improve her quality of life. The Rebiga family is now preparing for another trip, this time to America, where Antonia has the chance to participate in another clinical trial that promises new hope for her condition.
The Rebiga family's struggle is not just for David, but for both of their children, each of whom has their own difficult path to follow in search of healing. These journeys are challenging, both emotional and financial. The costs associated with participating in these clinical trials, along with international travel and long-term accommodation, are overwhelming for any family.
The Rebiga family is facing major financial challenges in trying to cover the costs of participating in the study, estimating the urgent need of EUR 20,000. Expenses include frequent travel between Romania and Canada, accommodation and other costs associated with treatment.
We appeal to your generosity and compassion to support David's participation in this vital study. Any contribution can make a significant difference in the lives of David and his family.
