Simona Enciu's story
It is said that an end is always a new beginning. You can lose something just to win something else, one chapter of your life can end just because another one is about to start. It sounds positive, but sometimes it happens that you win one battle just to start another...
At just 18 years old, Simona Enciu was left without a third of her left femur after fighting and winning the battle with bone cancer, despite the minimal chances of survival that were given to her. Today she is 42 years old, she is a biochemist at the Burns Hospital in Bucharest, and every day continues to be a fight for her. In order to be able to walk and lead a life as close to normal as possible, the woman uses, for 24 years, a prosthesis for the left leg that must be changed every 3-4 years because of the limitations and pressure she puts on the healthy leg and the spine. A bionic prosthesis, manufactured in Germany, would solve this shortcoming and give it the stability and independence that any person in her situation dreams of.
I am grateful to God for being still alive. It's a miracle! Looking back, I realize that it has been a long road with many obstacles, and somehow I am tired. I'm tired of struggling to lead a normal life, but I don't have another option... A state-of-the-art prosthesis would help me move normally because it has the same functions as my natural foot. I hope to succeed, with the help of those around me, to raise the necessary funds to be able to order it as soon as possible, Simona wrote to us.
The device that practically completes her amputated leg costs €46,000, an amount far too large for Simona's financial possibilities. Money is, lo and behold, a new obstacle, a new battle into which this woman is thrown into to achieve something that we, the physically healthy, enjoy without really being aware of its value. Together we can raise the necessary money for the purchase of the special prosthesis that Simona needs.
