Sofia had a follow-up MRI to see how the treatment went. The result was not a good one because a liquid gathered around the tumor that put pressure on it. Sofia had to undergo emergency surgery to put a drainage through which to remove that fluid. The operation lasted 5 hours and she was hospitalized for 5 days in intensive care. The operation was a success.
Subsequently, the second treatment began, to which Sofia reacts very well. On Friday, July 7, the doctor decided to give her an emergency MRI to see how her situation was going. The result was good, the tumor mass began to decrease, and Sofia is doing well. He will continue this treatment for two years.
Now, Sofia has been hospitalized for 10 days because they found bacteria in her urine.

Sofia Maria began, on February 16, treatment with radiotherapy, chemotherapy through veins, chemotherapy with pills and physiotherapy. He reacted well to the treatment. She needed orthotics for the legs, because following the biopsy she was left with a semiparesis on her left side because of which she lost her balance and stopped talking. The biopsy also found infection in her lungs, which is why she is fed through the probe and given the treatments with pills and syrup.
Meanwhile, a treatment with pills has been found in Germany. For these we need a video consultation at which we have an appointment on April 4, at 13:00. Then we will know when we can receive the treatment and how many pills Sofia needs.

Sofia's story
It is said that life is a journey and that it is not the destination that is important, but the road. If so, then Sofia Fitzinger's life is a merry-go-round that spins again and again in a circle of trouble.
She was only a year and a half old when her mother left home and left both her husband and child behind. Left in the care of her father, the little girl, who is now 3 years old, grew up surrounded by love and it seemed that sadness was ephemeral.
Life, however, struck again. At the end of last year, Sofia suffered a left facial semiparesis, and following medical investigations, the diagnosis was a cruel one: malignant pontomesencephalic tumor, in other words... brain cancer.
In Romania, unfortunately, there is no surgical solution, given the location of the tumor, but there is a ray of hope in the Turks. Acibadem Hospital in Istanbul treats such patients, but the price is very high. Investigations, chemotherapy and radiotherapy cost 37,530 euros, far beyond what the Fitzinger family can afford.
Robert, the girl's father, does not work because he has to constantly take care of Sofia, the mother is no longer interested in their fate, and the only one who supports them is Viorica, the girl's grandmother, who takes care of an old lady in town and cleans 7 blocks to feed her family.
It's hard to imagine how oppressive every day is for these people. To know that you can lose your daughter after you have already lost the family unit, to work as hard as you can and not have enough money to save your granddaughter, to hope and pray for a miracle while fear takes over your soul...
Sofia's life is running out by the hour. Aggressive disease does not She waits, and if we do not give her a chance through our donations, this little girl will become a memory loaded with immense pain in the souls of her loved ones.
