My name is Roxana Soltuzu, I'm 17 years old and I'm suspected of Rett's Syndrome. This disease was detected when I was one year and three months old, when my mother noticed that I wasn't paying attention when she called me.
At the first consultation, the doctor diagnosed me with microcephaly and elements of autism, associated with severe mental retardation, disorders that manifested themselves through severe insomnia and severe mental convulsions.
Since bad news never comes alone, doctors have also suffered from hearing-so-called hearing aids in my left ear. It wasn't until I was 4-5 years old that a neurologist diagnosed me with Rett Syndrome, but so far there is no second opinion to support the initial diagnosis. For this, I have to do genetic tests to confirm the diagnosis, tests that will be sent to Japan, but that cost far too much for us: 2,400 Euros. Unfortunately, the National House of Health Insurance does not settle our genetic analyses and we decided to call on the support of the Association "Save a Heart", about which we heard only nice words. The collection will be done in Timisoara, then the samples will be sent to Japan for investigation. Depending on the outcome, we'll know for sure if we can get the right treatment.
Help me, please! I want to calm my parents down! I'm so scared for them, because the intense stress they're living in could make them sick too!
